I really wanted to run the Moab 1/2 Marathon in March (Moab is where so many of my childhood memories are, and I love the scenery); but I didn't draw out...Bummed at the outcome, I registered for the Salt Lake Marathon in a rash decision. (Yes, Marathon. The entire 26.2 miles). But....as time progressed (and after running the Painter's 1/2 Marathon) I found myself loving just my 1/2's. For me, I have a chance to try to beat my time before and become a better, stronger runner. I have only ran 1 marathon in my life, and maybe there will be another one (or maybe not). For now, I am satisfied with the 1/2's.
Saturday was one of those spring mornings you are glad you are awake to watch the sun rise. I was joined at the starting line by my two great friends, Leslie and Natalie. (Who continued on with the training and did the entire Marathon! They are fantastic runners and take it to the next level). I, on the other hand, was finished after 13.1 miles; and fine with that!
Rachel and Jenny woke up early to be on the sidelines cheering us all on! (It's great to have such supportive friends!) Chad and the kids were also there to see me cross the finish line.
It was a beautiful (yet slightly challening course). I had some great new tunes on my Ipod and the serene Salt Lake Valley in front of me! It was a great run, and for now it holds my record.
We had to hurry back home to get on with our day; we had "Wicked" tickets that afternoon (which was phenomenal!)

Next time I want to be part of the cheering section! :) Awesome job!
Way to go Keysha!!! I should take up running just to get a break from my kids...hmmmm.
Nice work! You are a running maniac! How was the Salt Lake compared to St. George? I wanna know how wicked was??
You did awesome! I don't even think I could run one mile that fast- let alone 13!
Congrats - and you should totally do the Moab 1/2 - it's one of my favs and such a fun run!
Keysha I envy you... I wish i liked to run! Your such a hot mom!
GOOD JOB
Good for you! You're my idol:) I just took up running and can't imagine doing a half marathon, a 10k will be kicking my butt for now.
How fun Keysh! Can't wait to start running again. Hey there is a Boise 1/2 called Race to Robie. It is the hardest 1/2 in the northwest. We should do it next year. We are hoping to run one in August... have any suggestions? I am so Jealous you went to Europe, how fun. Jakes brother Max just got to Italy for his mission. We want to take a trip and go pick him up. So fun! Anywho... glad you made it home safe..
Keysha you ROCK! You are one fast cookie. I think you were done with the race by the time I got to mile 3:)
Good job Keysh. I would love to do a race..even the smallest one offered, but for some reason I'm so scared too. Some friends asked me to do a 5K with them this weekend and I just couldn't. I don't know why I'm so intimidated. You can do it, Kami, you can do it!
I love the example you set for your kids and taking time out for yourself. Thats so refreshing for the human sole.
Way to go Keysha! And I have to say that a 1/2 marathon is a HUGE accomplishment. Think about it, there are thousands of people who go to witness or cheer on or whatever but only a few hundred who run 13.1 miles. It is no short distance, nor is the training that goes along with it! You are an AMAZING runner!
I wish you would have posted your time so we could brag about you a little ;) You are the fastest runner - EVER. Great job training in the cold and pulling through on the race!
That is impressive. I heard that was going on and wondered if you were doing it. Congrats on beating your time.
You're superwoman! Nice job!! I was really loving running last year before Noah was born, but have had a hard time getting back into it... you inspire me!
Congrats! A 1/2 marathon is TOUGH! I'm with you, I don't like the full, I'm all about the 1/2! Way to go!
Keysha... your awesome. I admire your determination to beat your time on a new course. Good job! Europe looked like so much fun and you had a fun little group. You're such a little party animal!
Seriously, you are way too modest. What was your time? I can't believe I didn't ask you when I talked to you on the phone! I'm definitely getting slower with my old age. Maybe I should stick to the halfs so I can see some improvement with myself. I also think i'm on the verge of a pulled hamstring. Nice. Only 2 weeks til the marathon and I can barely run down my driveway :(
Keysha smokes the half-marathon races she does! I would love to be as fast as her.
Congrats on running the 1/2 marathon. I would have barfed out a lung if I tried that. BTW I love your banner.
Great job!! How I envy people like you who can run long distances. The moab 1/2 sounds like it would be so much fun... you will for sure have to do that one. I agree with those who commented before me--- you are one hot mom!
I need to run another half! I ran one in Dallas in February and really enjoyed it. Never did a full, and don't think I ever will. Your kiddos are so cute!
