One of my favorite places to escape the world is my family's cabin in Moab. It's nestled above the town of Moab in the La Salle mountains. The cabin is away from everything and everyone. The views are the best of both worlds--far out on the horizon is the red-cliffs and ledges--close-up are the tall greens and pines.
We met up with my parents and went four-wheeling, fishing and rested. (And of course worked on cabin projects....That seems to be never-ending). The cabin is my version of camping, but with a bed and a shower. My kids still get down and dirty, and there are lots of bugs, but I love it! Fishing topped Carsen's list and he was very into it. He caught 3 fish, 2 of which he [we] threw back and 1 he kept and ate! (Anything fried in grease tastes delicious, right?)
We left Monday morning to come back to reality, but Carsen stayed up on the mountain spending some quality time with the grandparents. I didn't think when it came to say good-bye that he would stay...but he wanted too. He was in his element, and wanted more time to look for deer and ride the four-wheelers. He's all boy. I love him for that.

I need my kids too! After Two days without my kids I totally start to have withdrawls. I really miss them. It is not as hard for Jake because he is gone all the time and being without them he doesn't feel the void I feel. I love the time away don't get me wrong, but its a catch 22 for sure. I always appreciate being reunited with them and sort of recommit myself as a mom everytime I am aways from them. Hang in there!

Kids are the best! Hey, my brother ran that same relay and next year we are going to do it as a family team. Sounds like a blast!
That is way too fun to have that cabin to create so many memories with. You guys are awesome. Love all the pics. Myka is getting so big and beautiful and Carson is such a special little guy.
Hey, guess what?!?!?! I'm an official gym member. I'm joined Lifetime fitness and I LOVE it. They have two hours of child care a day so I've been in heaven this week. You'd be proud of me.
I have very fond childhood memories in Moab with the Nordfelts! All I remember is that bear rug hanging above the bed we would sleep in, and it was SOOOO scary! Is this cabin the same one from so long ago? I don't think it is, but I can't remember. It's so fun that you guys have the cabin, and that YOUR kids get to enjoy it now. I love the picture of your dad and Carsen fishing. And Myka is a doll! She makes me smile every time I see pictures of her.
I've never actually spent time away without my kids (I know...sad huh?) but I think I would definatley have withdrawls! Our lives so fully revolve around these little people it's hard to remember how to live with out them. I bet you'll both be so happy to see each other!
Thanks so much for the pictures of the kiddos and your fun times. I'm glad you get to spend so much time with your parents and have such a fun place to go to! We are sure looking forward to seeing you in a couple weeks. Aunt Kathi
That looks like so much fun. What a beautiful cabin! I love to camp but I have to say I wouldn't do it without our camper.
We are sad we didn't make it this time with you guys. Next time, we'll be there.
Jordan and I were just talking that 4 YEARS AGO we were at the cabin, both pregnant with our first. Crazy how fast time flies! I totally have McKinlee withdrawals when she stays with Nana and Papa. But she absolutely loves it!
Now that is the way to camp!! Looks like so much fun!
Okay, those pictures of Carson fishing with Chad and his Pa are priceless. You need to have those framed and put in his room! It was probably nice to be down to only 1 kid for a while so you can really appreciate how much fun being a mom is. I somehow go through Parker withdrawls when he runs errands with Jared without me. What would we do without these monsters!
It is good to see the cabin I have heard so much about. It is gorgeous! I bet you loved to be reunited with little Carsen again, I am sure he had a riot!
I totally know how you feel about needing your kids. I have a hard time leaving them, and always miss them more than I think I will. I'm sure he had the time of his life though. Moab looked like a lot of fun.
That looks like such a blast!! It's so great to have a place you love to escape too. I love that Carsen likes all his "man stuff" and hanging out with his grandparents. What a cutie!
For as long as I've known you I've heard about you guys heading down to Moab. Fun stuff! I bet you miss your little guy! I have never left my kids even overnight, so I can't even imagine how much I'd miss them after a few days!
This made me remember the fourwheeling trips to moab during Easter. How funny... that was so long ago! Remember our BRIGHT matching shorts and shirts? Those were crazy.
Trading parents sounds like a good idea... I wish mine were closer! I've been trying to talk them into moving from Heber for years... not so much luck on that though.
Keysha! Hi!
I am so glad I came across your blog! Your family is absolutely ADORABLE! How is everything going for you these days?
