(He chooses his own clothes. I just go with it)!
The BIG day. Which, I have to admit, snuck up on me. I had always imagined this day to be quite traumatizing (with me in tears and Carsen clinging to my shirt crying). Not even quite. This boy is ready for school. At 8:30 he had his backpack and shoes on and was following me around the house saying, "When are we leaving?" I kept telling him we were too early and no one would be there yet. Finally it was time! I originally enrolled him in 12:30 preschool with his two little neighbor girly-friends, but then a couple of weeks ago I asked his teacher if she had any openings in the morning. To my luck she did! (Carsen still naps. I am not ending that until I absolutely have to). I was sad to not have him in class with Ryan and Aleah, but I think this might be good for him!
When we pulled up in front of the school he hopped out, waved good-bye and strutted his cute little stuff into school. (Saying "hi Ms. Heather" to his teacher on the way in). I was so proud. I will admit I did have a little 'something' in my eye as I drove away...thinking my little boy was big enough to be in preschool! Although, I was more excited and happy for him than anything! He has made such progress as far as separation...and it makes me feel a little freeeeeeee!
Myka and I had a little girly time of our own. I enrolled her in a Kindermusik class that we take together. So, while Carsen was at preschool Myka and I were dancing and singing with a group of toddlers and moms.
When it was time, Myka and I walked to pick him up. He came bouncing out with a back-pack full of projects and a huge smile. I waited a while before I started drilling him about the days events. He told me the names of some of his new friends and the activities they did.
My little boy is growing up!
p.s. Like the Power Rangers backpack Carsen is sporting? Oh yes...Had to wear it. Carsen's idol (Cooper) gave it to him at the end of our yard sale this summer. I think the backpack was the highlight of Carsen's day--he finally had some place to wear it!

I remember that first day last year. I was bawling! This year we both said, "See ya." So funny! I'm glad he loved it!
He is too cute! I am so glad that he likes it, it makes it so much easier for the parents.
I am glad that the backpack is getting some good use, it looks darling on him. He is such a good kid.
Coop had a blast with him today thanks for letting him come over:)
They grow up so fast- he seems too young to be going to preschool! I'm glad he had a good time- thats nice that you and Myka get some one-on-one time. What a good mom!
Okay seriously...LOVE the pic of Myka and Carsen hugging. He is such a great big brother. You have such cute little kids.
I still remember Keiton's first day of preschool like it was yesterday. All I can say is cherish the moments, because before you know it he will be in third grade learning cursive handwriting and wanting "DC" shoes, Hurley shirts etc...etc...etc!!!
Absolutely love the Power Ranger backpack. You couldn't ask for a better kid for Carsen to idolize. Cooper Richards is pretty awesome. I am so glad that he had a good time and was able to enjoy it.
Kindermusik is a good thing for Myka too! You are a great MOMMY!
Isn't it bittersweet when they start Preschool? Tay started yesterday and I had mixed feelings but am just grateful I made it through the day without tears. Your kids are super cute!! You are such a good mom!
How exciting that Carsen loves school. He is a smart one! KC wants to play with Carse again and even prayed about it this morning.
Your post made me want to cry! I can't believe the kids are old enough to start school - time flies by too quickly.
How fun for you and Myka to do Kindermusic together! (Actually it was a good idea because then you won't have to entertain her all by yourself while Carsen is gone!)
P.S. I'm glad to see that you let Carsen choose his own clothes. Sometimes it just isn't worth the fight :)
I’m glad that Carsen had such a great experience at school. Ryan is sad that Carsen isn’t in her class (I thought it was cute that she wanted him to be there with her). You’re lucky that Carsen still takes naps. I think you made the right choose. We’ll still see you guys at some of the field trips…
I love that you get to spend some quality time with cute little Myka! When Luke and Ryan are both gone for the 2 ½ hours twice a week I can’t wait to put Jake down so I can have some me time (I’m so selfish).
He is a doll. I'm bummed he isn't in Ethan's class. Poor Ethan, all his friends are girls. ;) Ethan still naps too but I give it up two days a week so that those two days while Bella is at school and Kaleb is napping I can feel free.
I love his sense of style! (we learn to pick our battles with these 2 and 3 year olds right?) I'm so glad Jace has never cared what he's wearing so I can have fun playing dress-up cuz Alivia is a lot more stubborn when it comes to that. Most days you can hear me saying, "Sure, if that what you want to wear". So fun.
I literally cried because it was just yesterday that you "graduated" from preschool at WHS in your jellie shoes. The pictures of Carsen and Myka was priceless!
Those are the sweetest pictures! I didn't cry (much) with Greg going either. I was just excited for him!
I got told yesterday "you don't need to walk me in mom because big kids go in by themselves and I am a big kid."
um.....snif snif, ok?!?
WTG Carsen! He is a big school kid now!! :)
What a big guy! I can't even imagine the first of pre-school yet :) Although I think I'll be just as excited as anything else. Carson seems like such cute kid! I love the idea of a mom and toddler kindermusic class, I need to find out if there's anything like that around here.
it's so exciting and sad when they start preschool. Your excited for them, but sad to because you miss them and you can't believe they are already that old.
Keysha, where has the time gone?? He is suppose to be this little 1 year old who can speak in full sentences....but, not going to preschool! I can't believe he is growing up so fast. He is such a cutie and I think thats awesome that you allow him to choose what to wear...love that shirt he is wearing!
So cute. Love how he picks his own clothes. Good job on being tough!
I love the pictures. What a stud! I am glad he is so excited about school. That has to make the experience so much better.
